About Me

Name: Stephen Koch
Profession: Artist/Stonemason
Degree: Bachelor's of the Building Arts with a Focus on Architectural Stone.
In My Own Words: My path to becoming a mason started in 2016 when a friend of mine sent me a link to the American College of the Building Art's website. It was the perfect blend of Art and History, both subjects that I wanted to pursue. While it took time, I managed to start in 2021 and after a rather hot day in the forge trying to be a Blacksmith, I gave stone a try and found that I had the knack for it.
I graduated in 2025, and since have spent time as a self-employed mason. My favorite sort of carving is either very detailed- smaller carvings, or architectural elements such as tracery. In my free time I like to build model kits and paint- hobbies I've had for over 26 years and likely helped build my skills with stone in some way, shape, or form.
